it was just a sliver of time. but it felt like purpose.
those moments created just for me by a god that doesn’t exist, like you found me in the middle of an apocalypse and built utopia there.
i would’ve chased it until i bled out. i chase you too, but i am on my knees. because what if you come back and can’t find me, you know?
and that sliver of time crumbles, just like the world that existed before you. pieces of velvet sky tumble above me. i sneak a piece of us in my pocket. like i’m embarrassed i could be attached to a universe so insignificant to you.
but it was ours and it was dark and that’s what made our stars so pretty.
how we fit our hearts in it, i’ll never understand. it was such a tiny thing. but it wasn’t though,
was it?
